The Automatic Rifle for the Sniper of TFC worked because the Sniper had 75 'shells' to use it with, a shared pool with the Sniper Rifle. It bears way too many similarities both to that and the current Syringe Gun the Medic has, so giving the fastest and weakest class in the game something with such high accuracy, fast firing speed and consistent damage could've been seen as a little bit overpowering at the worst. Most of the reasons are unknown to us, but we can probably speculate why the ideas were scrapped in the first place.įor example, the Nailgun with its cylindrical non-reloading barrel, its 200 ammo count from TFC, and its possible use as a rapid-fire weapon made it seem less like its own unique weapon and more like a compact Minigun for the Scout. What do you think? Any suggestions to fit these weapons to TF2's gameplay? What about other weapons you think would make a good home at TF2?Īll of these ideas were scrapped for some reason or another. The Dynamite Pack was eventually replaced in function by the Stickybomb Launcher. Here's an extract of what this beta weapon did from the TF2 wiki:Īfter the first and largest detonation, the strap breaks and the individual sticks of dynamite are scattered across the vicinity of the initial blast, after which they too explode with a slightly smaller individual blast radius. The Demoman in TF2 also has a beta weapon called the Dynamite Pack which is a group of dynamites strapped together. But while every class had their own weapons, none were more deserving then Demoman due to his love of blowing stuff up. Grenades play an much bigger role in Team Fortress Classic, enough to make a weapon pack in it's own right. This type of weapon would be perfect for an replacement Melee for Medic, they could also use the Axe design from the original Quake TF as a homage.ĭemoman : MIRV Grenade (Replacement Secondary) This can be very useful for quickly Spychecking.

If a Medic uses the Medkit on an enemy Spy, the Spy will grunt in pain and be infected. It can also be spread among teammates by contact. This disease will drain the victim's health until the victim dies or is healed by a Medic. When used on enemies, it will infect the target with a disease. The Medkit is a Primary Weapon that allowed Medics to heal teammates and infect enemies. Medic : Bioweapon/Medkit (replacement Melee) This weapon in my opinion needs major reworking in TF2, which is why I think instead reducing the target's running and mouse turning speed, it should instead stun opponents leading to an easy back stab kill and if against an engineer allows you to sap buildings and immediately stun the Engie to avoid him removing the sapper. It had melee attack damage, limited reserve ammo and a slow rate of fire. Spy : Tranquilizer Gun (replacement Primary) Īnother weapon scraped from Team Fortress 2, the Tranquilizer Gun gives the Spy the ability to fire a dart that reduces the target's running and mouse turning speed by about half on hit. The Automatic Rifle can fire a stream of bullets with small damage per bullet at near perfect accuracy making it a perfect defense weapon for the Sniper, it's downside though is that it share ammo pool with the Sniper Rifle consuming all of the Sniper's shell reserve if he is not careful. Sniper : The Automatic Rifle (replacement Secondary) The Nailgun was a weapon for the Scout, Sniper, and Spy in TFC, it's function is similar to the Syringe gun for the medic in TF2 without reload.Ī weapon of the same name with an updated appearance was created for TF2 but removed before release for unknown reasons. Scout : ( \(Classic) ) (replacement Primary) Luckily much of TFC's better weapons that did not make it to TF2 was shown in the trailer to the game so I got something to work off of. Now anyone who played even a second of Team Fortress Classic knows that the game has a much different feel to TF2 so much so that weapons will have to be changed it such a way to make it suitable to TF2 mechanics. Since Team Fortress Classic is now confirmed to be a part of TF2 universe as well as actually came chronologically before TF2, this leaves the weapons the classic merc's used as potential new weapons for Team Fortress 2.
